So yesterday I spent the day wishing I’d had slept the night before.
Since, I believed to my knowledge that my assignment was due for the morning. I thought a brilliant idea would be to take my time and do it properly overnight. Cue my favorite can of Monster Juiced energy, Coffee, Food and other distractions.
Now, in my course sadly it’s not all essay writing of 2000, 6000, or 10,000 words thank God. However, it’s drawing accurately to milimetres. Not hard if it’s one plan drawing of a room, whereby I’m specifying where the plug sockets should go or the light switches admittedly. However, as that task was the first week – It was very clear things were getting hard quickly.
So to cut a long story short. I had 4 architectural drawings to complete and a further 2 perspective drawings to ponder over. The process for only one of these drawings would take someone at least an hour. However, after downing the iced glass of energy drink, chased by a coffee just to be sure then finally making sure my browser was set to a very long Eminem playlist, I set to work. Completing all four drawings in under 4 hours, then attempting the final 2 perspectives in 2 hours. All in all the quality of the drawings, I am extremely impressed with. The ideas behind them needed a fair deal more time that the previous day I had set about to deal with it.
Now, cue my drive to University. Sat in my first lecture to be told by one of my class mates that my Lecturer isn’t attending today. My first question “So what about the concept task? Does that not have to be in?” now began the sudden realization. I had been given the sheet which had the wrong hand-in date, my expression was somewhat of dismay. I couldn’t believe what was happening. However, before I knew it came part 2 of what would be a day I’d rather have died. Seriously.
My Lecture finished at 1. My Service Workshop started at 12. Now I’d be incredibly foolish to put work first again so I was reluctant to leave my Lecture until 12. Keeping on telling myself, “Missing over an hour at Uni for a Module I really need to pass would cost me the course.”
Therefore, I arrived at the Training Course. Late. Annoyed. Argumentative. In the wrong attire.
To make matters even worse. Not to mention the fact I was in a Training class!?! I’m a Shift Manager…..Customer Service comes natural. Right?? We were all told not to expect to leave before 5. Now there is nothing I hate more than an argument. But believe me for 5 hours of my life I was willing to have one. And my thought process in this “Course”, sadly no it wasn’t “Where is the ideal place to put my 5th person on shift.” or “Who to hand my headset to when I have 6 people in my team.”. It in fact was………….Where would the best place be to put my Summer Garden House in a 26metre long garden so it had full use of the sun until 11am. Not to mention politely reminding my Business Manager what a complete, useless waste of time this was.
could would should have been spent on Uni wasted. Gone, never to be given back. At least I got paid.
